Director of 3XN materials research Kasper Jørgensen’s interview with Blaine Brownell appears in 3XN’s book Material Behaviour, published by the Danish Architecture Center. Entitled “The Colour of Today—An Interview on Material Behaviour,” the discussion covers topics ranging from sustainability to new material technologies. The publisher offers this description:
Mind Your Behaviour invites you into 3XNs architectural universe, demonstrating how to create buildings with a focus on behaviour and placing people in the middle of this examination. Mind Your Behaviour is an invitation for reflection. It invites the spectator to approach the world thoughtfully and with curiosity in order to examine how architectural surroundings affect our behaviour. Mind Your Behaviour focuses on and challenges the concept of behaviour as expressed in seven themes directly associated with the design universe of 3XNs architectural practice. These themes of ‘Cultural Behaviour’, ‘Learning Behaviour’, ‘Human Behaviour’, ‘Social Behaviour’, ‘Public Behaviour’, ‘Building Behaviour’, and ‘Responsible Behaviour’, place focus on that which happens when architecture shapes behaviour and indeed when architecture through its own behaviour shapes our lives and relationships. This publication has its basis in the exhibition ‘Mind Your Behaviour’, displayed for the first time at the Danish Architecture Center (DAC).
