Material Resilience


Blaine Brownell will give a lecture during the first Advanced Materials Symposium, held at Ecobuild America 2010 in Washington, DC on Friday, December 10. Entitled “Material Resilience,” his talk will focus on emergent materials with implications for security, energy, and the environment. Other talks will consider high-ductility concrete; carbon fiber-reinforced polymer strengthening to mitigate progressive collapse; elastomeric retrofits for concrete masonry unit walls for enhanced blast resistance; and the unveiling of the National Institute of Building Sciences new Advanced Materials Database.
